As we turn the calendar to April 22nd we are reminded that Earth Day can jump start individual actions that ripple across our communities and state as a whole. The shared responsibility to maintain clean, green and beautiful spaces comes through collective impact.
We invite you to be a part of the change:
- In Anchorage you can adopt a pathway by committing to clean up just once a month during the snow-free months. For a year-round impact, enlist your kids in the Can-Do Kids program whereby youth collect aluminum beverage cans, turn them in for cash at the WestRock Anchorage Recycling Center, and drop their name in to win monthly prizes.
- If you live outside Alaska’s largest city, you can take part in the State DOT adopt-a-highway or road program.
- Those who live outside connected roadways can participate in annual cleanups organized locally by their tribal entities or IGAP programs.
Together, we can ensure everyone has the opportunity to live in a beautiful community.
